چکیده

Oidiodendron maius G.L. Barron is a recognized fungal species capable of forming ericoid mycorrhiza with various positive effects on host plants; therefore, newly found and previously uncharacterized O. strains may be valuable for heather plants’ controlled mycorrhization. Characteristics the F3860 strain were studied, i.e., mycelium growth nutrient media ability to secrete auxins enzymes. grew rapidly malt extract agar potato dextrose agar. It was also able grow suitable plant cultivation. The presence flavonoids rutin quercetin increased rate compared control, starting from 8th 13th days confirmed bioassay thin-layer chromatography, their content, as well phytase activity, estimated spectrophotometrically. Both in tryptophan without it, secreted about 6 μg IAA/mL medium. possessed extracellular phytase, protease, phenol oxidase activities. investigation indicates F3860’s promise seedling inoculation an approach increase fitness.

SOD1-targeted gene disruption in the ericoid mycorrhizal fungus Oidiodendron maius reduces conidiation and the capacity for mycorrhization.

The genome sequences of mycorrhizal fungi will provide new opportunities for studying the biology and the evolution underlying this symbiotic lifestyle. The generation of null mutants at the wild-type loci is one of the best methods for gene-function assignment in the post-genomic era. To our knowledge, the generation of superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1)-null mutants in the ericoid mycorrhizal fung...

Cu,Zn superoxide dismutase and zinc stress in the metal-tolerant ericoid mycorrhizal fungus Oidiodendron maius Zn.

The sequence encoding a superoxide dismutase (SOD) was isolated from the cDNA library of a zinc-tolerant strain of the ericoid mycorrhizal fungus Oidiodendron maius, grown under zinc-stress conditions. Sequence homology to other SODs strongly suggests that it is a copper- and zinc-containing SOD. Functional complementation assays showed that the gene confers increased tolerance to zinc and copp...

A New Oidiodendron maius Strain Isolated from Rhododendron fortunei and its Effects on Nitrogen Uptake and Plant Growth

A new mycorrhizal fungal strain was isolated from hair roots of Rhododendron fortunei Lindl. grown in Huading Forest Park, Zhejiang Province, China. Morphological characterization and internal transcribed spacer rDNA analysis suggested that it belongs to Oidiodendron maius Barron, and we designated it as strain Om19. Methods for culturing Om19 were established, and the ability of Om19 to form m...

Common and metal-specific proteomic responses to cadmium and zinc in the metal tolerant ericoid mycorrhizal fungus Oidiodendron maius Zn.

Although adaptive metal tolerance may arise in fungal populations in polluted soils, the mechanisms underlying metal-specific tolerance are poorly understood. Comparative proteomics is a powerful tool to identify variation in protein profiles caused by changing environmental conditions, and was used to investigate protein accumulation in a metal tolerant isolate of the ericoid mycorrhizal fungu...

Resistance of heather plants (Calluna vulgaris L.) to cesium toxicity

Natural soil Cs concentration is low and non-toxic to plants. The stable isotope Cs is present at concentrations close to 25 μg per g of dry soil [23] and only specially Cs-rich pollucite might cause environmental toxicity of Cs, as in areas of Manitoba [20]. Additionally, two radioisotopes of Cs, Cs and Cs, originating from industry, testing of thermonuclear weapons and from radiation accident...
